• This is Bjork's first record with Mark Bell as producer and has a distinctly more uniform approach than her previous efforts. The songs also have a chillier, almost icy feel. 
  
• This is the third song from the perspective of the fictional character Isobel, who is a magical being born in a forest. In this song Isobel goes to the city. The earlier two entries in the Isobel trilogy are 'Human Behaviour' from 1993 and 'Isobel' from 1995.
  
• The music video is directed by Michel Gondry as are all three entries in the Isobel series.
• Won the MTV Music Award for Best Art Direction in 1998

• "On Bachelorette, Isobel decides to return to the city. It’s like the sequel to her story. She goes back to the city by train, which is why the beats of the song are like a train, and she prepares to confront all the people that she loves with love. It’s a disarming confrontation." (Bjork)
