• Mariella is the story of a long lost love. Maybe they'll meet again, maybe they won't, because anything can happen in the big 'ol state of Texas. The song is mainly about feels instead of ideas but it has a strong sense of hindsight and of night "hair pitch black like the midnight sky."
  
  The sun is coming down and the ghosts of girlfriends past have come to pay the mind of the singer a visit "her sweet melody sings wherever I go." I don't know who Mariella is, but it's safe to say she left quite the impression on Leon Bridges.
