Details
  • 'Devotion' is a straight forward love song that wears its broad ranging influences on its sleeve, going as far as to directly reference Deftones and Kim Deal in the lyrics. It's pop music infused with rock featuring a rumbling low-end and electric guitars that recreate a feeling of a runaway love that's both dangerous and exhilirating because its outcome is uncertain.

The relationship depicted in the song hurtles along and is likely to come off the rails at the some point due to the sheer speed of it. Although, maybe this youthful infatuation will blossom into a more sedate, stable love? Only time will tell and that's what makes the ride so interesting. Parks dares to trust herself even though committing so fully is leaving her wide open to heartbreak. I remember the hubris of youth well.
