  • The lyrics were wrote about the pilot Chelsey Shullenberger who, in 2009, made an emergency landing on the Hudson River in New York which saved the lives of 155 people. The music was inspired by Mad Max, a solitary hero from the post-apocalyptic film franchise. As such, 'A Real Hero' has a strange disconnect which creates an eerie, mysterious feeling and seems to be about an ordinary man who performed extraordinary deeds in a crisis.

  • Electric Youth was also the name of an album by the 80's singer Debbie Gibson, however the band didn't take their name from the album.
  • The song featured on the classic soundtrack for Drive, which came out in 2011, and saw an explosion in popularity for synthwave. According to Rate Your Music there were 77 synthwave releases in 2011 and just three years later in 2014 there were 941: an increase of 1122%.
