Details
  • Rickman comes from an evangelical Christian background. Her music is a haunting mix of ethereal vocals and classical music which she composes herself. She sometimes records and plays her songs in churches, making full use of the acoustics to provide a sense of echo and space, which reminds the listener that although they're in a house of God, the graveyard is never far away.

It's beautiful, lush music that looks to the heavens. 'Bright Star' is about a woman watching a comet who realises that even something that can burn brighter than a star, and travel light years, still comes crashing down in the end. It's this dichotomy between the beautiful and the haunting that makes Rickman's work so interesting.

  • 'Footnotes for the Spring' was funded through a kickstarter campaign.
