- 'Slow Motion' has a driving force that carries it forward through the beeps and whirrs of a dream pop soundscape. Weaver sings about a want to remain forever in a happy memory, as if she wishes she could capture this moment and relive it in slow motion until the end of time. It's a far sight from the heavier psych of acts like The Black Angels and would, perhaps, be a better fit in the synthpop category.
- The late-60's were the glory days of psychedelic music. Five decades
later, in the 2010's, the genre experienced a resurgence that saw it
return to the mainstream, with acts like Tame Impala reaching #4 in the
US Billboard charts.
The form gained credence, in no small part, due to the liberalisation of drug laws throughout the western world. In America, marijuana was made legal for recreational use in several states while in countries like Portugal they went as far as decriminalising all drugs.
With the proliferation of hash came haze. A guitar filled haze that competed with bong smoke for space in the dorm rooms of college kids far and wide. It wasn't long before a new age of psychedelia beckoned.
