Details
  • Music used to be fun. 'Secrets (Your Fire)' is goofy song, meant in the best possible way, though it has hidden depths. It would have been in constant rotation on MTV back in the day.

In the video, the band are transported into an old school, obviously artificial, digital world of Windows XP and Dungeons and Dragons. Initially, they appear bemused by their surroundings but soon start enjoying themselves.

At the beginning of the video, the pair are in a sparse, clinical world of science, a Newton's Cradle is present, as is a Greco-Roman bust, denoting high culture. However, they're working people who yearn for the fantastical because they're bored of everyday drudgery. It's escapism, plain and simple, something most of us can relate to.

Even though the digital world they come to inhabit is full of dangers, depicted on-screen by viruses, they're unable log off. This mimics the experience of modern life; we know there must be something better to do than watching other people's lives on YouTube, but we're still glued to the screen.
