  • 'White Light Generator' is an electro fever dream complete with dense synths, various machine tones and layered strings that collide with Helen Marnie's vocals to create a futuristic atmosphere that is tinged with nostalgia "high in Victorian England." It combines with the groups signature, driving beats to venture into shoegaze territory, which is a departure from the groups dancier tracks.

The music builds in complexity throughout, the lyrics don't mean much beyond vague insinuations of mirrors with memory and sisters who are struck by lightning. The imagery is interesting in snippets, but what's really important is the way the vocals sound as opposed to any precise meaning. The music feels like it's from a futuristic world full of technology but the reverb drenched vocals evoke a sense of space, as if a ghost is knocking around inside the machine.
