A drum technician is killed after the stage roof collapses during setup for a Radiohead gig in Toronto. If the event occured when Radiohead were performing the entire band could have been lost.

August 15th

The Axl Rose vs Activision case is dismissed. Rose had sued the gaming company over the use of his music in Guitar Hero III, citing fraud and misrepresentation.

August 18th

Scott McKenzie dies at 73 from complications related to Guillain–Barré syndrome.

September 11th

Jammie Thomas-Rasset is ordered by a US court to pay over $200k for illegally downloading 24 songs. She had also uploaded over a thousand songs to the peer-to-peer sharing site KaZaA, but they weren't covered by the case. She later declared bankruptcy.
