Details
  • "It was probably 5 in the morning - we were still up partying - and I just pictured this whole scenario of having this girl, bringing her downstairs and taking a bath and like, out of nowhere, just reaching back and electrocuting, basically throwing some kind of electrical device in the bathtub and then taking her out of the bath and drying her off and putting her clothes back on." - Chino Moreno

  • The album was released on singer Chino Moreno's birthday.
  • DJ Frank Delgado, who also plays keyboards, became a full time member of the band on this album.
  • When asked by Revolver Magazine which Deftones song he would choose to introduce people to the band Chino Moreno chose 'Digital Bath'.

  • 'White Pony' took a year to make and was fraught with tension as different members of the band wanted to have their say, which pulled the sound in various directions. It was this push and pull that made for a more avant garde listening experience than their previous efforts and also, surprisingly, produced the groups best received album, both critically and commercially.

  • Part of the reason Deftones sound different to many bands in metal is that they're influenced by an eclectic array of outfits from outside the genre such as the dream pop of Cocteau Twins, which explains the mist like haze in their sound, Depeche Mode, The Cure and Mogwai

  • There is a remix  by DJ Shadow.
  • There is a cover version by The Anix.
