Details
- Masta Ace is a university graduate who got his hip hop start as a part of the legendary 80's outfit Juice Crew.
- As a concept album A Long Hot Summer tells the story of a particularly sweaty summer in Brooklyn, New York as Masta Ace and his friend / manager Fats Belvedere go about their adventures. The album is a prequel to Disposable Arts (2001), which is also a concept album and continues the story found here.
- "I chose the prequel idea
so that all the people who didn’t get to hear “Disposable Arts” would
be tempted to go back and peep the rest of the story. “Disposable Arts”
never got a fair chance in the market place and this was a way to give
it new life." (Masta Ace talking to rap reviews in 2004)
- With a focus on showing love in hip hop music the track is a showpiece for good vibes, braggadocio and good rhymes.
- The track features singing by Leschea, who was formerly a member of Masta Ace Incorporated and who has released a solo album of her own, Rhythm and Beats (1997).
- Seeing as North Carolina super-producer 9th Wonder only got his break in 2003 this track, released in 2004, is a strong example of his early work.
