Details
  • The song is a tongue in cheek ode to fame. The singer, Miss Kittin, muses about sex, drugs and the high life but it's delivered in such a deadpan that it can't be taken seriously. It's a deluded fantasy rather than a serious aspiration; a product of the imagination instead of reality. The music video is done in the same way.

It features a series of elderly women in extravagant locations and glamorous clothing but something about it is hideous. No-one looks happy and even though the lyrical content is aspirational, the delivery is vapid and lifeless. The effect of the song is to paint fame as something not to be desired but mocked or even derided. The people seeking fame are depicted as pitiable creatures unhappily wasting their lives in a mansion.

The single's artwork strikes a similar note with how it represents the negative side of fame. The cover for the single of 'Madame Hollywood' is a mock tabloid photo of Felix Da Housecat who has been harassed by the paparazzi in an intrusion of his privacy. The attention is shown as unwanted by Felix's attempt to shield his face.

The song is amusing and has its sights set in the right direction by punching up. Felix made high quality music, filled dance floors with his DJ sets, and received recognition within the mecca of house music that is Chicago.
  • Miss Kittin is a French vocalist and DJ who has had success in the electroclash genre.
  • Miss Kittin features on four tracks from the album: Madame Hollywood; Silver Screen Shower Scene; What Does It Feel Like; Voicemail.
