Details
- Cibo Matto were a part of the Grand Royal Records collective that was led by The Beastie Boys and included acts such as Luscious Jackson.
- Many of their tracks are recorded with live instrumentation.
- The album was popular on American college radio.
- 'Stereo Type A' was the bands final album of their initial run. They released 'Hotel Valentine' in 2014 after a fourteen year hiatus.
- Sean Lennon, son of The Beatles' John Lennon, joined the band after he started dating Yuka Honda. While he was recording with Matto, Lennon also released solo work, which included appearances from members of the band.
- When we decided to make this record, Miho and I talked about a lot of
things that were on our minds, what was happening around us and how we
felt about what happened with 'Viva! La Woman'.
For three days we were just sitting around talking and talking instead
of writing music. And we kept bumping into that subject a lot, how we
have to deal with stereotypes so much, and how it can be very hard, because the people who have these stereotypes aren't even aware of it. [Yuka Honda speaking at Barned & Noble]
