Details
  • Silversun Pickups have an undoubted shoegaze influence but it's mild and the overall texture of their music is indie pop or indie rock. Despite many people thinking the vocalist on 'Lazy Eye' is female, he's actually a guy, Brian Aubert.

Aubert said he finds it amusing when people expect a swanky chick to walk on stage and what they get is him. I imagine he stares at their surprised faces and has a good chuckle to himself.

"I loved the idea of playing a show, and walking out on stage with my beard in front of some guy who was expecting to see some swanky chick instead." [Aubert talking to Under the Radar in 2009]

  • 'Lazy Eye' is about a guy who has found feelings for someone but expected falling in love would be different, "I've been waiting for this moment all my life but it's not quite right." As if he should move forward but his lazy eye can't help but linger on the person who's tickled his fancy, "with the same old lazy eye fixed to rest on you."

  • 'Lazy Eye' is the bands most popular song by some distance, partly because it became a favourite amongst players of Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero.
  • Carnavas is a Greek surname which was chosen as the albums title because of singer Brian Aubert's Greek heritage.

  • Silversun Pickups take their name from an off-license in Los Angeles. It refers to the anticipation that comes after buying alcohol but before drinking it.
