Details.
- 'Memories Are Now', the song, is about standing firm in the present. It's about bravery in the face of adversity "You don't scare me at all but you try." Despite it's subject matter, the track is strong instead of aggressive, "the only fear is a thing called fear", determined instead of confrontational and firm instead of violent. Hoop has a purpose and she won't let anybody stand in her way: "no matter what you say I've got work to be doing."
The song exhibits a feminine strength throughout, which can be heard in the pleasant, all-female backing vocals, as well as in Hoop's lead. The instrumentation is minimal and deliberate, the percussion barely registers but is there on every 2 and 4, which contributes to the feeling of determination, as if walking forward towards a goal.
